Bethune Cookman faculty and students assisted with cleaning up Sunsplash park in Daytona Beach. The amount of macroplastics in the sand was overwhelming and by far the most numerous type of trash we observed.
Growing research is showing the detrimental impacts this has on marine life and National Geographic just highlighted a study showing macroplastics are present in human fecal samples.
We destroy the earth and we destroy ourselves.
